So, it means, that we will be able to check lv1 key location in lv0?
it means pretty everything is open! everything on all consoles available. like in a previous article, they could make a new system and fix it.
does this mean that to those ps3 that died during downgrading could be fix coz everything is open?
No, you need a hardware flasher like the E3 or progskeet versions.. Pretty much hardware flashers are the cure-all for bricks, very rarely is there a software fix for bricks as the nature of a brick means you cant get the ps3 to boot and thus you cant run software.
Getting the bootldr is nice because it is unique per console and since it is at the root of the tree it could mean that it is truely fully open to first understand all the firmware, and then possibly use this info to create our own CFW, such things are beyond me for sure. But even still he give a software file for dumping this info, which would most likely require CFW in the first place, so you would need to downgrade to get your bootldr dump, so you would need a hardware flasher anyways if you are 3.55+
The end seems to imply that if the right hardware were designed we could have in effect a ps3 modchip, that is if I am reading the full post correctly.
Again I am not a super techy, so thats as much as I can understand, though maybe I am way off base.
Yeah, you need a way to get the keys out of the PS3 somehow. This must be done using an exploit/CFW or some piece of hardware that is connected to the PS3.
Is it possible to modify bootldr to allow dumping/restoring flash?
Edit: I may have read somewhere it cannot be updated?
