One thing I did notice when running PSX games - there is a different Aspect Ratio being applied depending upon whether you use ps1_emu.self, or ps1_netemu.self. Netemu is definitely more condensed horizontally, and "square" shaped, as opposed the ps1_emu looks to be true 4:3 aspect.

yeah, that's been noted from a while back.

i can't remember the explanation, but i think netemu makes games look a lil better, also. i think it might show the games in a more preserved resolution from the console or something.

It definitely does. They kill the interlacing so textures are solid.

Great Example is the original Koei Dynasty Warriors for PSX. Also Dead or Alive. You can clearly see the interlacing lines on the ps1_emu.self, but the characters are sold and smooth looking in ps1_netemu.self.

well, i'm sure you'll get netemu for MM soon.

i was just chatting with someone and they said compressed images or zip's could be added probably easily. i was thinking maybe it could be done in hdd1 or in the same folder and then deleted when you quit the game or something, idk. i just think compressed psx games would make this just completely stellar

We have netemu for Iris now, so that will do. The way Iris does it now without patching the emu.self at all is much better. hopefully Dean can incorporate that disc and discless has the same options and compatibility rate.

The Zip thing would be cool, but I don't really need it.

multiMAN 04.19.05 minor update is available online and in the web column (CEX/DEX/STEALTH).

    multiMAN ver 04.19.05 UPD (20130206).zip (14.47MB)
    multiMAN -- Crunching Support & Releases - Page 276

    * Added support for PS2 disc add-ons for PS3 games like SingStar:
    - "[PS2" prefix in folder name required
    - Example: /dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Pop] where [PS2 Pop] contains a backup of your PS2 disc

You can have up to 10 [PS2] add-on discs per PS3 game. In the screenshot above the following folder structure was used:

/dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance <--- This is the PS3 game listed in the Game column

mM detects the add-on PS2 discs and will list them in the pop-up menu when you load the game:

    /dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Pop]
    /dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Disney]
    /dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2 Party]
    /dev_usb000/GAMES/SingStar-Dance/[PS2]

To have a PS2 disc to be listed in the pop-up menu the folder name must start with [PS2 like in the examples above.

[Hermes] option for BD-ROM Emulator must be used and a PS3 disc is required. Later for the PS2 swap you'll need an original PS2 disc.

Don't forget that you can backup your original PS2 discs in folder format using mmOS.

Thanks to @Portnyashka for the tests and suggestions.

Can you please check some of the games which don't work with ps1_emu with the latest mM update?

Can you point to the games that don't work on ps1_emu, but work on ps1_netemu so I can take a look?

i still have the issue where if i pause for a long time (well, a few minutes), the game will either lock up or lock up the next time it loads. when i go to quit, the ps3 beeps a few times and turns off. idk if maybe my hard drive idles or something since it seems like no one else has pointed it out. then again, i know most people don't game like me; i pause a lot, make sandwiches, watch tv, etc.

I left few PSX games for over 2 hours and later returned and continued the game. Tested both from internal and external. Some external USB HDDs go to sleep (like western digital) but there is nothing I can do about it.

ah, okay, it is my hard drive then. i don't have western digital but i have caught it going to sleep.

damn, good thing i got two drives. my issue then is i gotta pay attention to games that tend to have a distance between saves cause that's when i usually start doing other things.

humph...you couldn't add something that would maybe make multiman constantly access the drive?

could i possibly unplug and then replug the drive back in if i pause it for a while?
