Shows potential, but I'll be the first one to say it, we still need those keys to start with. I remember seeing something about a method of dumping a per-console key, but I didn't pay much attention to it. I'm also thinking that even if we did do that, that it wouldn't do us much good, unless the found keys would work with deank's ebootmod tool. If that were the case, I could see a lot of smiling faces out there. But hey, I could just be talking out of my ass
Is this just a generic whole-file encrypt/decrypt.
The PS3 uses a whole bunch of different algorithms of which some files are not whole file encryption.
Is this PS3 specific i.e. can it decrypt anything at all related to the PS3?

yeah, the screenshot shows he's encrypting/decrypting text files. I don't see how that's useful for the ps3. There are tons of open source encryption programs out there. Is this just a generic encrypter, or is this PS3 specific?
I'll ask the obvious question, does it encrypt npdrm properly?
Whenever I see this guy's name I think at CFW FOLDER Checker (whatever)... and I always end up with a stupid grin over my face
I might even think at a great application to post for this contest myself... It will be called "Useless Crap of Magic PS3" - UCMPS3
Now, I respect everyone's work, I know that making free applications for someone is hard, and the biggest reward we get as developers is the people's gratitude!
YES, I respect your work, but making a program that adds 1+1 endlessly, and posting it over the net won't get anyone's attention!
OH, and if you ever wonder why I bash this guy this much: You can do what this program does with one line of code! ONE LINE!
I'm a little rusty, more than 7 yrs break from programming but I'm sure that encryption routines are embedded in every major programming language![]()
I gotta agree with you. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt with the CFW folder checker thinking that it could be good to idiot proof installation, but suggested improvements like an md5 checker built in. That one was just basically a spell checker, and this appears to be just a generic encrypter/decrypter not really related to the ps3 at all. I'm starting to think he's just putting any old thing out to put his name in the monthly contest. You could say that about ThatOtherPerson too, but at least there's more than a couple lines of code in their releases
I think the problem is that his work is being front paged.
I'm not sure if someone is just getting stuck on his name 'psdev'.
It isn't like he has released anything so that his name has any credibility; he is just a wannabe-hacker.
Imagine if he actually won the monthly contest; imagine the interview.
Q. How did you get into dev work.
A. Oh, you know. I'm a skiddy for life!
The PS3 scene is all bark and no bite...
every week we get titles like: "TB dongle reversed engineered for CFW!!!; Developer X found an exploit but he's not sharing; Developer Big fat Liar decrypted lv0 but won't say how"
There have been "news" about possible CFW for months now, just do a search and see... and NOTHING ever happened.
