I'll be getting both systems. I'm sure they will both be great.

Both will be day one purchases for me. I'm one of those early adopters with money to burn.
Anyway, any predictions? I'm pretty sure they won't go with the name PS4 (at least in Japan). Four is considered an unlucky number because it's close in sound to the word for death. I also feel like the performance is not going to be much of a leap. I think the focus will be on power efficiency. It will be powerful enough to do 1080p, but probably not at 60fps. I wouldn't be surprised if some games still render at 720p, but with much better antialiasing.
I'm curious what they will do to evolve the controller. I can see them putting a minimal screen on it. It would also be nice if the analog control used some laser tracking type device to detect movement (like a laser mouse), instead of a mechanical means of reading the input.
I think performance will be quite a bit better than PS3. Maybe not a power house of today's hardware like the PS3 was when it was first release but if you look at the power of today's hardware it will definitely be quite a bit better. For the controller I am hoping it will have better triggers.
Yeah, they need to combine the triggers and analog stick (I like the concave surface) from the 360 and the D-pad from the Wii U with the PS3 controller.
Backward compatibility should be interesting. There's no way PS3 games can be played if they are ditching the cell. Rumor is they will use the newly aquired company Gaikai for BC on the cloud. Seems lame to me.
Also, I think the rumor of them restricting used games sales won't come true. Seems like it would be suicide because as soon as they announce it, Microsoft will come in and announce that they will not be doing that nonsense.
Yeah whoever says they are not allowing used games first, the other can be the hero of the gaming community and allow them so I find it extremely unlikely too. Maybe in the future but not now.
I liked the feel of moving the PS3 analogue sticks around over the 360's but I do agree the concave surface would be better.
Maybe PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility but definitely not PS3.
Guess I was wrong about the name. PS4 it is.
