I totally agree that the first play through must be without mods or really cheats.
Example of someone cheating online....going into a GTA deathmatch as GOD with infinite ammo. Or a race with unlimited turbo/nitrous in a indestructible car.. When I go online it is in Free mode.
I never do any other modes really.

Holycrap, It's amazing how some people have some twisted view of cheats. Why do you guys act like It necessarily makes the game easy?
On Skyward Sword, I found the game to be too easy, so I got the enemy damage multiplier cheat and doubled the damage they do. Also, since It was my 3rd playthrough, I wanted to eliminate annoying aspects of the game, such as Link running out of stamina or the bird flying too slow, so I got infinite stamina, which made Link have permanent run so I could get to places faster and also infinite boost for the bird so It would fly fast. In short, those cheats removed the boring part of the game and made It way more challenging and fun.
Anyway, people shouldn't judge cheaters based on their experience with cheating. Cheating doesn't necessarily makes anyone noob, playing like a noob does. I'm all against online cheating though...

Prefer to play normal/hard without cheats. Crushing/nightmare modes are usually fun to go through using cheats/mods =D

Cheats and Mods go hand and hand there the identical Functions
Cheats can be used to make the game harder add things to the game (Swapping the loading files and so on)
Mods Can be used to make the game harder add things to the game (Swapping in new files)
Cheats can be used to make the game simpler adding inf HP god mode and so on
Mods can be used to make the game simpler adding inf HP god mode and so on
Mods/Cheats can be used together to make the game a lot harder and add even more content (as long as u can Format the files the same)
what ppl Call a cheat is actually also a Mod we mod the files/Ram just like someone that's making the latest Mods would do for a game the only difference is they mod files outside of the actual Game code mainly we mod the actual Programing of the Game.
PPL that are playing with mods online are also cheating online since in the end only the ppl with the mods are the ppl using it. just like if your using a code online..
Sure most "cheats" Tend to go more towards making the game easier.. but in the end its kind of like most other things why would u hack something different when 90% of the users want that
its like telling a OS hacker to hack OSX or lynix they rather hack windows since 90% of the word is on it..
Moding is the same.. when moding most ppl want to add something like a new character and so on or swap something so this is what's done when doing moding
I hack Video games, Does that mean im a cheater ? or a noob ?
nope it just means I have a better understanding of how the game works from an inside point. were all the rest only understand the story I understand the mechanics

I'd like to point out that outside of simple skin mods, some games have an insane modbase. For example, Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction has entire databases filled to the brim with mods - my personal favorite being the outstanding Hell Unleashed. A far cry from being a cheat mod, this gem of content adds much content and very nearly forces you to party play. (Solo play is possible and good for grinding out runes and gear, but advancement will not be pleasant.) During the development of the mod there have been hardcoded changes to the engine for some rather wicked things like raising the upper limit on monster boss HP, because the limit in the ("softcoded") data tables past a certain caused an integer rollover, resulting in 1-hit bosses - precisely the opposite of the intent!
Not all mods are for cheaters. That said, solo cheating is at user discretion with no harm to anyone.
