ITS PS3 JTAG TIME JUST LIKE XBOX....
i suport any progress in firmware :D
THIS - is what we needed. Good luck gents. May the best be the winner ;)
WOOT **** YEAH FIGHT THE POWER
I am really excited to see what comes from this, it would be nice to see this unlocking more potential for those who have updated past 3.55 so that more people can enjoy the benefits of homebrew, I personally love showtime and it's mkv playback!
I kind of understand the proposal and have faith that progress will be made.. even if this doesn't end up as a end user method of jailbreaking their consoles perhaps this system can be used into retrieving the keys whenever they get changed in the future!
Keep up the good work whoever you are!
I'm not saying it would be a simple task to accomplish. I am also aware of the ramifications of taking this project on.
The whole point of the exercise would be to see if I can add in the second nand and a switch (to put it in simple terms) to be able to run either 3.60/1 OFW on one and 3.55 CFW on the other................or..............(more of what I am looking for personally) 3.55 CFW on one and some other CFW on the other.
Even if it was as simple as running Kmeaw on one and Waninkoko on the other. I have no interest (or the knowledge to do so) of trying to dump keys and such.
My main thing would be to gather the knowledge of being able to put 2 nand's together (in one console) and be able to switch between the two at will.
That could be a powerful "tool" for people that know more about being able to "hot switch" between the two and gain more info for future development.
Can this be done?
Of course it can........with a little time and effort.
Could it help in the progress of CFW?
Would it be worth risking a couple of consoles for the effort?
In my mind.......ABSOLUTELY!
Bottom line is this:
90% (or higher) of the people that belong to the various PS3 sites would not be able to accomplish adding a second nand into a PS3 and be able to set it up to switch between the two.
I am in the percentage that has the knowledge, skills and tools to be able to do so (and the desire to want to try it).
Could I fry a couple PS3's?
Nothing good comes from not having a possibility of failure.
Even if it fails miserably, devs could learn from it.
If it were to happen to be successful, devs could learn from that also (and I would happen to have a unique PS3 capable of dual booting).
I keep seeing people write "knowledge is power" and "knowledge should be free" around here.
For me, it truly is about gaining knowledge.
I will have to say that if I start into this project, it will be a few days before I can devote some real time to it.
If it were to actually work, I would have to buy a second PS3 to put CFW on to stay in the rv.
I trust my soldering skills immensely, but don't want to get out on a 4 or 5 thousand mile trip with a bad PS3 due to a screwed up solder joint (hey, we all make mistakes ;) )
See! People are so easy too give up. :p
Very interesting news. Always thought that dual boot CFW/OFW or CFW/CFW would require hardware modifications (a softMod always seemed unrealistic). Maybe that 40GB FAT I have in pieces in my bedroom cupboard will come in handy. :p
isn´t that the same thing as mathieulh described ?
booting on OFW -> switching to nand with CFW @ runtime -> CPU reset trick ->
dump decrypted Keys from RAM
