It's obvious they cannot update the bootloader with just a update pup and it's not what I was discussing. You're saying the bootloader is static and set in stone. It is not. And that's the point I am trying to expose.

Anyway, this is only a concern for people using OFW on downgradable consoles. The result of such update is that downgradable consoles would become non downgradable.
As most of us with CFW PS3s have backups of the old bootldr signed for the motherboard on our consoles.
