You should always check the official support sites for these games--I know Assassin's Creed has it's own support site. Most games have their own site (or from the game's known developers) and they usually (not always) provide info on what gets fixed with the game updates. Usually they fix known bugs either for the offline or online player modes. Most of the time it's for online modes. So if you don't play online, then you may not need to install these updates. But always check those sites I am referring about. They might provide info on what usually gets fixed. Good luck!

Now then, if you notice that some games never had a v1.00 eboot fix/patch, but only a pkg update (i.e 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, and etc) has been used to fix or patch a game to play on CFW, then you will need to install it.

I hope this gives you some insight.
