The problem with ISO and BIN files is that crucial information is missing. The best way is to use CUE+BIN (although CUE is currently not supported by the Iris/patched-emu method).
@deank, while updating my tutorial on running Xploder v4, I discovered something that might confuse others.
Let me see if I can break it down:
- Xploder's ISO we name it to DISC1.BIN
- So then we have to name the PSX Games ISO's to DISC2.BIN and etc. -- this way, when we do the swapping of game to continue the process they are all in a alpha-numeric order.
- Question: Do we need to follow this same pattern for multiMan?
- When we Paste as a Link DISC1.BIN to another PSX Game folder, multiMAN's Retro shows a game cover for the Link as well as the other ISOs in that same game folder.
- The issue here is that we need to locate DISC1.BIN in order to execute the LINK, where with IrisManager it only shows one game cover for all the extra BIN files within the same game folder--including the LINK.
- Question: Is there way you can make this also happen for multiMAN in the future?
Another issue is the naming of the games in multiMAN vs. IrisManager:
IrisManager grabs the name of the game according to what we elect to name the folder of the PSX-Game. This means that the ISO can be named to anything, and it won't matter, because it doesn't read the title of the files. This is perhaps why it only fetches one game cover for all ISOs inside a PSX Game folder?
multiMAN grabs the name of the ISO and each other ISO in the same game folder--if the game has more than one ISO--this explains the duplicates in Retro. The problem here is that Xploder's ISO's Name is DISC1.BIN and I am not sure if this will break up the sequence if we choose to rename the other game ISOs to a different name so that multiMAN displays it as the actual name of the game and not DISC2.BIN and etc.
But, I do have one PSX Game that the folder and ISO are named not exactly as to what multiMAN chose the title to be. It actually got the title right and I don't know how that happened? Could the name of the game be embedded inside the ISO?
I hope I didn't lose you. Let me now I if I did, so I can try to explain it another way. But I am afraid that the best way for you to grasp what I am trying to explain is that you tried it with a PSX Game ISO and Xploder v4 and Pasting a LINK using IrisManager than comparing this with multiMAN. :)
One more thing, I really like that your method doesn't require patching any emu files. I think this makes it easier for newbies. :)
Iv been testinging a few games.. mortal kombat 4 and trilogy work perfect. tekken 3 and soulblade work perfect. wipeout XL works but has no music.. wipeout 3 special edition freezes on a loading screen before the game loads its title screen.. thrill kill works but has no music...

Detect Game Title in ISO Images? I have that enabled. But not all show the title as two that I have that did get it right. I wonder if deank could let us create like a small txt file inside each folder and have it fetch the details from that?
Is this a bug? - When I left 4x2 Retro in PSX category and went to the settings to check out that feature above. I returned and all the PSX games in the PSX category are not showing their game covers. Just a black disc with PS in the bottom right-hand corner. They were all showing up fine before. Don't know what happened there? I wonder if they don't get cached correctly since all of them are named the same? COVER.JPG It can't cache the same named cover, right?
My current mM version is 4.18.04
Do I need to install the 4.19.00 base before updating to 4.19.01?
