This really needs to be explained in the instructions readme for this package.
I found a pre-made one posted by loboguerra elsewhere, but to not include the whole instructions on how to patch the ps1_emu is pretty stupid.

IrisManager - v1.53 (242046)
http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/p...anager-4-x.rar
- Includes support 3.55DEX (thanks to Rancid-0)
- Added support Homelaunc1 (PSN / Homebrew from USB) for 3.55DEX
To Rancid-o I have added test for 3.55dex homelaunc1
The rest, I added changes Rancid-or mine. In practice may be the same, but since I can not keep track of versions, I prefer to be sure that what I've been playing, is still there, even if I have to work a little more [+risas]
Damn dude! , you keep pushing this thing out!!! Thanks!

Whats the difference between Internal_MC.VM1 and Internal Memory Card.VM1?
Can I save PS1 to XMB Memory Card Utility or just in my PS1 folder on USB?
So does Iris load the PSX game using the PS3's emulation, or is it loaded with an internal emulator that could be prone to incompatibility? I'd like to fully understand it before I mess with anything.
It redirects the PS3's already existing PS1 emulation to be able to read from the internal or External HD. That's it. Compatibility should be the same as running from a legitimate PSX disc, or running a Backup PSX disc from Multiman.
@MarcusRaven Iris uses a patched version of the PSX emulator of the PS3 firmware. You have to grab the the emulator from the PUP or from the dev_flash, and patch it manually with the tools included in the rar and then copy it to the USRDIR folder of the application (via FTP or using a file manager like the mmOS of multiMAN or you could create a game data PKG).
Iris supports the PSX emulators from firmwares 3.40 up to 4.30.
The problem is, not all the tools are in the RAR. All the stuff that needs to be put in the data folder needs to be found elsewhere. It should be included in the RAR, or there should be relevant links to finding it if not. Most users are having a hard time generating the patched .self file because this is not explained very well in the readme instructions.
