AR Max Evo Allows Homebrew Booting; Not Just Pgen!
AR Max Evo Allows Homebrew Booting; Not Just Pgen! –
We have confirmed that the latest Action replay Max Evo Edition Does indeed allow people to boot just about any homebrew app on an unmodified console! Also unlike some previous reports by individuals we can confirm that Datel did indeed use a variation of UMCDR for their max media creator program.
In order to run other homebrew software all you need to do is replace the autoexec.elf located in the root of whichever directory you installed max media creator. The current autoexec.elf inside of the tool is a special codejunkies version of Pgen. You can download the latest max media creator software Here
its interesting that they have done this to play homebrew, but the main burning question there is to ask....... can we play copied ps2 games this way??? if they have made a format so the ps2 can read without having a modchip installed there must be a way to overcome this, with any luck there is sombody working on it as we speak if not hopefully sombody has cracked it and put everybodys mind 2 rest and allow us 2 play copied games without ripping our ps2's appart
max media creator = CDRWIN
Why spoiling homebrew with warez... ?
Anyway: the way they load binaries is a bit dull, and homebrew applications need some changes in order to load correctly inside their software.
So the Ar Max Evo allows for loading homebrew software on unmodified PS2's. Does this mean that I can use this program to load Snes-Station, PS2 DreamSpec, PS2MAME, ColemPS2, PSMS, Beebem, ScummVM, et al on unmodified PS2's.
I am just wondering cause I am thinking of picking up AR Max Evo to load up homebrew software which can't be loaded from HDD using PS2MENU becaus they are programmed to load from CD.
I just got my AR Evo today!!! I needed a new cheat accesory. Being that my GS 2 1.6 is outdated, my Codebreakers 7.0 Disk hardly ever works, and my Sharkport 2 is out dated.
When I heard about this EVO and EMU stuff, I had to get one, and the Max Drive is cool too for saves and stuff. Now I just need to get some Genisis games. But I was wondering the same thing Eugene was. If you'd be able to play other emus as well, suchas gba or snes, ect.
A nice way of getting around this problem is replacing the AUTOEXEC.ELF with the CDLOADER elf (renaming it to autoexec.elf...don't forget to add in the necessary files to make CDLoader work), and from there threw a bunch of homebrew programs (which includes PS2Reality, PGEN, SNES-Station, HDLoader, HDAdvance, FAPLink, and PS2menu-k) into the program select menu section (as a test). Here are the results:

PLEASE don't ban me for talking about CDLoader!!!!
I can NOT get my pen drive (Lexar 64M) to run the autoexec.elf from AR Media Player. Does anyone know why? I can transfer files between MC and the pen drive though.
Thanks in advance
Would somebody make a tutorial or something on how to get AR MAX EVO to play homebrew stuff?
