Tried the chip out and its worse than the original magic3 it will not play dvdr on v8 consoles,i suggest you steer clear and buy a magic 3.1 over this any day!
yup
um... it is supposed to support DVD9 formatt which I did not think Magic3.1 did very well if at all...Originally posted by nick-sales

I also have found that the Apple series from apple2 to now this pro version are very reliable.
I am more interested in whether they have solved the kingdom hearts crash problem that the Magic and Apple2 suffered from...
And to the V8 issue... who owns a V8 console anyway??? I don't think they exist in Australia yet... correct me if I am wrong.
I am thinking of stocking these chips as a cheap alternative to the Messiah2 and the DMS3.
They should be better than the Apple2 that I currently stock as a budget chip - as long as they can play Kingdom hearts and are actually compatible as claimed with the DVD9 format.
Anyone know about the Kingdom hearts crash with these chips? does it still happen?
Either way - the dudes at Modchip.cc are in my good books at the moment as they sent me 2 free samples of the Apple pro without my even having to ask!life is good!

From all the feedback I have got so far - it appears that the Apple Pro is just as good as the Messiah2 Pro - with the exception of V8 japanese consoles at this stage.
They still play HK silver DVDs on the V8 and all CDR's as well just some issues yet to be resolved with DVDr's on the Jap V8 only. (So outside of Japan... care factor??)
With this in mind I consider the Apple Pro now the best option for the PS2 - Due to both it's size and cost.
Plays DVD9 games as well, so pretty much matches the Messiah2 feature for feature - but with the better design feature of having the oscillator (clock frequency generating crystal) on board, whilst still being smaller than the Messiah2.
I am about to start importing these chips in bulk - and have elected to be listed as an Australian Reseller...
So if all goes well, I plan to supply these chips from as low as $30 Australian dollars ($19.50 USD) and much less for quantity purchases.
Once established I foresee that prices will drop even further!
Hard to justify buying the Messiah2 for $60 to $100 (AUD) when the Apple Pro does everything the Messiah2 does for less than half the price!
Just my 2 cents worth! correct me if I am wrong...
But just to cover those who still prefer the Messiah2 - they will also be stocked, sold and installed...
end dribble.

About time someone besides me and a few others gave props to the Apple line. Nobody really gave them a chance because they came out after the original Messiah and Magic. I am very happy with my original Apple. The only negative things about the original Apple is that you have to disable the chip(who cares?) or use a gameshark to play dvd9 games and the double protection check on v7 systems for games like Spliter Cell(but I foud a solution for that problem). All those problems have been fixed with the Apple Pro. Hell, even the original Apple is better than any of the Magic chips. At only $19.99 from www.modchips.cc more people should really consider the Apple Pro. I guarantee you will be happy.

Yeah - I liked the ones I installed so much that I have elected to become an official reseller for Australia!![]()
Just to let anyone in Australia who is interested know - I have now received my first batch of Apple Pro and can start selling and installing them for anyone who wants a chip that is as reliable and has the same features as the Messiah2 but does not want to pay the extra money.
Note the better design of the Apple due to the on board crystal and size.
I will offer special discounts to ps2newz members over my standard list price. so feel free to email me or PM me if you are interested.
I help people modify over 50 PS2 with Magic 3.1 before nearly 10 return in 1 or 2 months time with the chip lost respond. I mean the PS2 like not modify. Seems the ROM of the chips can easily been erased by something.
However in my history Apple chip product quite few has this problem. I didn't use Apple and use Magic is Apple not load D9 before. Now I 100% shift back to Apple.
I have the source code for the applechip pro available now so any takers please get in touch
