Another alledged pstwo LA fix has been posted by the dvdmod.it team. This modification involves insulating the intergrated LA chip using a sheet of tin and thermal compound. The documentation is currently in Italian with an english translation coming soon.

That "fix" doesn't look like anything more then an attempt to keep the integrated LA cooler with some simple heat dissipation techniques. I see nothing that is altering the electronic schematic of the driver at all. This is conjunction with the diode-fix may be something to consider though.

Sony would have done 10 times better if this method works.

I'm not an expert, but I can tell you that sometimes too much of something can be a bad thing. The whole reason the thermal pad is squishy is to do what TIM paste does - fill in the cracks. Adding more paste essentially adds another barrier (believe it or not) for heat to pass through. Even if it did help, thats way too much. The only 2 things that help are the metal strip disipating heat directly to copper and the extra height it gives, which creates more pressure on the pad (better heat xfer). IMO the better thing to do would be to solder or glue (special thermal epoxy) on a small chunk of copper or brass (aluminum needs special solder).
