GTA San Andreas > How to insert .pak files? –
I've seen this tutorial
to put my own musics on GTA SA. Well, I've created my own pak files, but they have different sizes from the original ones (bigger than originals), so I cannot reinject the new pak files. How can I insert my pak files without problems?
Thank you so much.
I want to make my own Music too in GTA SA .
Your Link seems to be down.
Anyone have a tutorial for inserting own Music in GTA SA ?
Ive been messing with GTA VC and been able to convert the .VB to wav and back to .VB with the same properties and file size with MFAudio. So when i get my setup ill test that out with the HDD.
For GTA SA ive been testing them PAK files and this time its a different method.
PAK is like some sorta ZIP compressed file for multiple files i think.
Ive tried to use different unzippers but none recoqnize them PAK files as a valid archive.
One thing i know for sure is if i can find a unzipper/zipper that can handle them PAK files then i prolly could add some content to them music stations.
I know that this http://www.tinyted.net/eddie/SanAndreasRadio/setup.exe
can play the music on disk perfectly without unzipping.
Theres just not enough in the AUDIO/STREAMS or AUDIO/SFX folders that list all this music and sounds so im assuming its zipped via PAK.
Do some testing and find a PAK with audio files in it reader/ extractor or unzipper.
Im still looking for one.
Ive must of been very tired when i read this.

From what i can tell them PAK files are really weird and nuthing out there (except San Andreas Radio) can decode, unarchive or recognize its file format.
So simply encoding a wav/mp3 to a .VB file then encoding, archiving or compressing it to a file then renaming it to the .PAK extention wont work.
These files aint like the quake game or any other kinda PAK files ive seen either.
My guess is them PAK files contain folders too because GTA SA has many individual audio files for it to be just one file.
If you try to play the GTA SA audio PAK file with MFAudio it will play very funny with no way to end the audio stutter in the file.
Ive even tried to zip an uncompressed .VB GTA VC audio file and play it with MTAudio with no luck.
I think that its encoded and compressed cus they said GTA SA was gonna be a DVD9 but since it just was a lil over a 4.4 gig game i guess it was best if they didnt use the expensive DVD9 format and just squeeze some audio files.
Im kinda surprised that players that use the HDD aint so interested in adding their own custom music.
Can you tell us what that site said about GTA SA Pak files please?
If anyone knows how to read, decode, unarchive or anything with these PAK files then please share here.
How do you even change the music In Vice city? Does the File size have to exactly add up, or can I add hours of extra music?
