    Hi,

    Here I am again, since I have never given up this thread.

    I just bought a Digitus NAS DN-7023, and now it is working with my PS2 Slim SCPH-90006 HK (BIOS 2.30) Console, where I can connect them via cross-over ethernet cable, or using a Router between them (with normal ethernet cables).

    I succesfully have already tested it with SMS and OPL:
    "SMS, SMB and NAS" (http://psx-scene.com/forums/f111/sms-smb-nas-87677/)

    My next step is test Linux Kernel "Release: PS2 Linux Live DVD Version 2" (http://psx-scene.com/forums/f167/rel...ion-2-a-65060/ (Release: PS2 Linux Live DVD Version 2)), with my Sony Pendrive, then with my NAS via crossover, then via Router, and finally... Via Wireless!

    And of course this wireless approach sound interesting for many of us, can you imagine the possibilites for OPL and SMS?

    Now I'm pretty interested on this WiFi device (since it is being highly rated by users on web shops):
    "NETGEAR Universal WiFi Internet Adapter (WNCE2001)" (Wnce2001)

    If this succeed could use PS2 Slim as an internet browser, media center (and of course console ;-) thanks for the SMS, OPL and Linux homebrews/OS.

    Beyond the WiFi Internet Adapter, other additional accessories can increase the enjoyment: Remote Control, Logitech Cordless Wireless Action, Guitar Hero III Guitar (from PS3 Bundle but BC - backward compatible - with PS2 Console and almost all GH series), Logitech Driving Force Wireless (compatible with PS2 GT4, PS3 GT5, and many PS2 / PS3 car titles), etc. Everything wireless.

    BR,

    EDIT
    BTW, I just bought VONETS WiFi Bridge

    Finally my VONETS VAP11G WiFi Bridge Dongle Wireless arrived for China two days ago!

    Good news: Now I have a wireless PS2 Slim console (tested with OPL rev590 and SMS ver2.8 rev3)
    Bad news: Slow speedy, a lot of sttutering on videos (worst than USB 1.1 connection)

    My advice is, this bridge isn't smart enought to negotiate ethernet packets with PS2 and NAS, resulting in a lot collisions (well, it is just my guess based on the "flashing like hell" leds coming from the bridge)...

    My hardware testing environment:
    - PS2 SCPH-90006 HK 2.30 BIOS connected to VONETS WiFi Bridge
    - Digitus NAS DN-7023 connected to Netgear WGR614v9 WiFi Router

    The homebrew testing scenarios with failed:
    - OPL rev590
    ---> with "-DFORCE_100M_FD" makefile compilation directive (the usual scenario)
    ---> without "-DFORCE_100M_FD" makefile compilation directive (I tried this because it solved stuttering for my NAS when directly wired to my PS2 Console)

    - SMS ver2.8 rev3 -> Network settings -> Network Protocol -> SMB/CIFS -> Operating Mode/Duplex Mode/Standard scenarios:
    ---> auto-negotiation
    ---> automatic
    ---> manual full 10Base-T
    ---> manual half 10Base-T
    ---> manual full 100Base-Tx
    ---> manual half 100Base-Tx

    One of my thoughts are, it could be solved via homebrew (i.e. OPL or SMS side)? Since I don't believe that the bridge is so slow, maybe the point is just how to avoid collisions...

    Any kind of help would be appreciated.

    I've done some homework here :-D, and it seems I found some root causes... They are (I suppose):
    - Netgear WGR614v9 WiFi Router Setup, Wireless Settings
    --> I changed Channel from "6" to "11" (after inpecting my wifi neighborhood and realised which were the less and best channel available using inSSIDer Windows Tool: Change Your Wi-Fi Router Channel to Optimize Your Wireless Signal - How-To Geek)
    --> I changed Mode from "b and g" to "g only" (in order to inscrease speed, since both VONETS VAP11G WiFi Bridge Dongle Wireless and Netgear WGR614v9 WiFi Router are 802.11g certified WiFi devices)
    - Netgear WGR614v9 WiFi Router Setup, Advanced, UPnP
    --> Turn OFF

    - SMS ver2.8 rev3 Network settings, under SMB/CIFS Network Protocol I changed to "manual full 10Base-T" (in order to keep both freezing and stuttering away from my AVI movies)
    - OPL rev590 without "-DFORCE_100M_FD" makefile compilation directive (the same principle used for SMS and procedure which solved stuttering for my NAS when directly wired to my PS2 Console)

    Up to now, the results for WiFi SMB are: AVI movies on SMS and FMV movies on OPL are stuttering less than with USB 1.1 connection, but they are still stuttering more than with wired ethernet (SMB) connection.

    BTW: I also tried this "Turning off WEP and WPA may increase network throughput, but exposes your network to hackers. This is not recommended, except for testing purposes." stated on Netgeart support site, haven't made any improvement on SMS/OPL performance, as far as I can notice.

    Just tried the same but with an Medialink WiFi Bridge and was disappointed twice... although Your thread here bewared me of buying/trying another wifibridge.

    1. This device is not correctly initialized by my PS2Two, i have to connect it to a PC 1st so it can connect to my wlan-router and then I have to switch the ethernet cable off the laptop and into my ps2 again (thank god, resets on the ps2 arent resetting the bridge^^).
    2. It shows the same collision problem that You described before, so playing videos (ingame or files) without additional configs or builds is useless.

    Hi,
    It would be nice if you could try more scenarios than the ones I've already tried and shared here, in order to improve our discussion on this subject. ;-)

    BTW: From my side I'm considering the acquisition of an TP-LINK 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router TL-WR702N (http://www.tp-link.com.au/products/d...odel=TL-WR702N), to work as a Nano WiFi Bridge Dongle Wireless (like the VONETS VAP11G I've already own). BTW, It can be fount at DX site (http://dx.com/p/mini-portable-150m-8...-115931?item=1) by 22.30 USD.

    See u!
