Finally got my pstwo but I have some q's:

    - I've read that they ban your console if you play (or try to) with a dnas id that is on the internet

Do they also check how many different console ID's play this game online?
Cuz you can rent videogames (gamefly, local video store etc) so alot of peeps play the same game, and let's say 50% of them play or try it online

    Doesn't sony ban it then?

    - The Crystal Chip has dnas bypass or something like that right?, so you can play online? Is it so that it just doesn't check the dnas?, either if it's an incorrect one or there isn't one on your backup

    - can I just go online with my Matrix Infinity or should I disable it?
    - aren't I supposed to play DVD+RW in my PStwo? (V13), it says so on the box and Matrix Infinity supports it too, but seems I can't boot or it doesn't read (RSOD) (verbatim DVD+RW btw)

    Thanks

Dumb question. Simple answer: They don't.

You'll only get banned if you get caught cheating.

I know that because (i) I've been involved with DNA$ since it was cracked, (ii) There have been NO reports of anyone being banned for anything else, other than cheating (or abuse in some cases), and (iii) Knowing the way that DNA$ works, and the rough amount of discs with the same ID etc.., its highly unlikely Sony could even tell if you're playing online with a patched copy if the ID is legitimate - if it gets passed the check then, as far as anyone's aware, you have a store bought copy.

So, the chances I'm correct are probably about 99.9% unless someone turns up & says they were banned for using a back-up.

    From your original post;

    1. Yes, you can go online with your chip.
If you're playing an original game, then you'll need to disable it 1st.
If you're going to play a patched back-up online, then there's no need to disable it, as DNA$ won't check for your chip because of the patched disc.

    2. It will read RW's but only for DVD Movies, not PS2 game backups.

    That answer your questions?

yes thx alot, very good answer, seems you know alot of it
so they make batches of games with the same dna$ if I understand it right

you mean patching for DNA$ patching (inserting the DNA$)? or is there another patch to play backups online?
I'll just disable the chip everytime I go online

too bad it won't read game backups from RW

I've read this disc id utility doesn't work on V12
does that count for V13 too?
is there a way to get the dna$ ID off the disc (original) if you have a V13?

It doesn't work on any version after v10, and there's currently no way to read disc IDs on these version, and probably never will be. Although there are places to go to get good working IDs anyway - the best being backupscene.com (link in my sig) as we have IDs for games within 24 hours of them being 'scene' released.

Just curious... what's the go with patching for DNAS? is it because some IDs are blacklisted? or is the DNAS ID somewhere on the disc where it can't be copied for some reason?

Will i need to patch for:
    1. Swap Magic off a direct legitimate backup?
    2. HDLoader game installed off a legitimate DVD?

The DNA$ is encrypted onto the disc when its pressed, and doesn't get transfered over when making a backup, so you replace it by patching the DNA$xxx.IMG file with the appropriate ID. No further patching is required.

And you CANNOT play online games off the HD, unless they are HD supported like Resi Evil Outbreak. But 99.9% of games are non-HD supported.
