    Hi,
I“m planning on buying a network adapter for my old tubby PS2 and play online but I have a few questions I bet you could help me out with.
I tried searching, but I would really like to get answers for these specific situations. Sorry if I“m beating a dead horse.

    1. I have a Crystal Chip which is working just fine, do I need the latest firmware and/or BM to play online and bypass DNAS? Or can I use the firmware that“s already in it?

    2. I have a 24mbit connection through an "XAVi, X5222r-P3"-adslmodem which has 4 ports on the back for connection several computer, question is can I simply plug the PS2-networkadapter into one of these ports and thus not have to buy a router?

    3. Is there any risk that the modchip will be detected as a "cheat device" or such preventing from playing online even with my original discs?

I know this might seem like really obvious stuff to some, but I“m new at this so any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    /Burmashave

1 its always a good think to update firmware.

2 i think it sounds like you have a builtin router, check the manual
    http://www.xavi.com.tw/Spec/Spec_X52...(20050325).pdf

3 if u going to go online with original discs always disable the chip.
check http://crystal-chips.com/main for info on how to do this.
(with matrix infinity its press select on startup then reset)

    Hi again,
I bought a networkadapter and installed it according to the manual. I hooked it up to my cabelmodem but when I run the networkaccessdisc it fails when it comes to the diagnostiktest. It simply says "unable to connect to network"...
I upgraded the firmware with the megapack found on this site and that worked great, but for some reason I can“t it to work online.
I tried playing monster hunter just to see if it worked, but it simply gave me a DNAS-error...
Can someone give me a clue?
    Thankfull for any help

first find out what your PS2's ip is. it will be listed in the router (modem) as the device whose MAC address starts with 00-04-1F...

then set the router/modem's DMZ host to be that IP address... this will bounce any incoming connections (that weren't asked for my any of the PC's) straight to the PS2... so the DNAS can connect to your PS2... and so can other players if you host.

usually the process is something along this line:
    1. login.
    2. click advanced tab / link...
    3. look for port fowarding...
    4. look for DMZ. enter PS2's IP... hit apply...
