Risk: Global Domination server down?
Risk: Global Domination server down? –

Hi,
I just got my PS2slim setup again and online. My network settings are ok since I'm able to play killzone online (and racked up a large number of long range pistol headshots against me but thats another story). The question is when I setup Risk global domination to play online and I try to connect to the server I get a message that says something like "cannot connect to gamespy server, please try again later". Is this a temporary glitch or is the server permantly down? This game is still in stores where I live so I find it hard to believe nobody else has tried to play online with it.

Last time I tried to play this online (about a year ago) there was nobody online, so chances are they may of closed down the server. It was never a very popular game anyway.

The newer the game, the more chance that people will still be playing them. Big titles also manage to retain their user base. But there's nowhere really to check if a game's still being played.

Just a note on whats being played, Should be a forum for that, maybe this one will do. Anyways As for whats popular online, Killzone seems to still attract players. I even found a fair number of players online there. Tough bunch too, the only difference between deathmatch and team deathmatch is your team members stab you in the front, whereas the other types everyone stabs you in the back.
I also have world championship poker and nfl gameday 04. Though I dont expect the 2 year old football to have many players left as these get replaced yearly.
Fact is I'm probly one of many who want more online games. And I'm still incredibly pissed that gran turismo is single player & lan only, no internet. I mean lan is good idea but seriously, does sony think its easy to organize lan parties in a dinky town that I live in (crossing the street takes you from downtown to the country!!). Especially when all the lan parties out there seem to be PC only affairs, and I'm not one to have an affair with me PC.
