I was wanting to network my PS2 in to my PC with an ethernet port and then through another ethernet port send it on to my network to go on the internet. The problem is I don't know how to set up the internet sharing for such a thing, does anyone know where a guide is or can they tell me the steps needed to connect it through?

i've been trying to do the same thing without a success. The thing is, i have 2 network cards, first one is (let's say) my internet access card. I have my internet connection via LAN (altho i have my own public ip address). I use my second card to connect my ps2 to my pc. I tried various things without any success. I'd be really greatful for any help. Thanks in advance.

It can be done. Although I've only done it using a dial-up connection to the internet (via internet connection sharing) and a cross over cable. And its a real pain in the ass to do. But regardless, here's what I used and my process. altough substitue out the dialup for a second lan card with internet and it may be possible, but i seriously doubt it will work.

Computer with windows xp with modem and 1 open lan card, cross-over cable to ps2

    1. Start out by dialing up the internet on your cpu and have ps2 up and running with whatever program/game your going to connect to the net.

    2. Open Network Setup Wizard on your cpu.
2A. Get to the part where it asks you which network connection is your internet (if it hasn't detected it by itself) and choose the one with the net)
2b. Now continue on (and my memory is kinda fuzzy on this one) and it should ask you if you want to turn on internet connection sharing, so select yes and continue on. If it doesn't you need to go into the properties of the adapter that has the internet on it and manually turn it on.

    3. You cannot make the ip address on the adapter to the ps2 anything other than 192.168.0.1 or it will not work.

but once internet connection sharing is active and the ip adress on the lan card to the ps2 is 192.168.0.1 you need to make sure to do static ip address on the ps2. (example ps2 ip 192.168.0.10 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1) and now it should work. But Its been well over a year or so since i've done this so I can't remember the entire process. and every time you want to connect your ps2 to the internet this way, you have to go through the entire process. For some reason it will not remember.

Honestly, If you have internet through ethernet, Its a lot easier to just get a router.

A toxic agent on a dangerous mission so secret, even I don't know what it is, because if I did, I would have to kill myself. I don't even know who's side I am on.

I used to do it the same way bootlegninja did it too (post #3), it worked out well for me, but I only did it through dial up just to download day 1 files in CB lol, I'd imagine it would work the same way to share a broadband connection, but if I remember correctly, I tried to do that once years ago and the client computer (The computer connecting to the internet through the other computer directly connected to the internet) had a very slow connection, so I got a router =P

It can through a router or dial up internet. But I did this process because I don't have broadband or dial up that is compatible with the ps2 (such as juno or netzero which must use their software to connect to the internet.)

Do you live in a city? Why not borrow the neighbors wireless for the ps2 and pc?

I live in very small city, where most do not have wireless networks. Also, "borrowing" the neighbors internet is not exactly legal and with the right programs, would be tracable. Now if there is a public wi-fi around, that would be a different story, but there is none where I live.
