Possible for remote reading of PS2's MAC address?
Possible for remote reading of PS2's MAC address? –
Seeking advise from someon more knowlegeable then myself, is there are way that your PS2's MAC address can be read from a remote loaction? I'm currently trying to figure out how a "smurf detection" system works on a dedicated server for Tribes AA, and if your MAC address is safe then I'm pretty sure I can get around it rather efforlessly. Thanks!
I think it's only possible if you're on the same subnet (see arp -a from the command line/shell). As far as i know the mac address is stripped out when it leaves the subnet and after a bit of looking around it can be grabbed remotely if the device has either:
a, a snmp enabled and doing some walking or
b, netbios enabled
both sound quite flakey
