I hear that the pre-DNAS games will play from the HD. I also hear people posting on this , and other forums, that you can't play online with HDL, but every time somebody says that you can't, they also say that they never tried it with patched games.

I currently use the MC exploit to load HDL, and I finally own a game that I want to play online, but would like to avoid annoying load times.

I am not asking about how to patch games, or where to get files, so this shouldn't be a problem. Just would like to know if it's possible with the various new HDL options, and a properly patched game, if there is a way to get online(not LAN tunneling). If it's not possible, is there a specific reason that is known as to why? From what I can tell, the DNAS patches just modify a few files in the game, so shouldn't they be able to read just like any other?

Thank guys. I trust the info I get from this forum a lot more that the others I have found for PS2 stuff!

I'm certainly no expert on the topic, but to put it in the fewest words, yes you can.

Hmm, I've tried to go online with my only game (monster hunter), and I can't seem to do it(works fine with retail disc). Is there a special combination of options to use? I'm getting DNAS 880.

Last I heard, it had to do with HDL disabling something with the NA that the hdd needs to use at the same time. If the new patched HDL prevents that from happening, I'd like to know also

Here is the low down with the latest hdlpatch. Some (all?) pre-dnas games will play online via the hdd. DNAS enabled games can use lan mode, however they will not pass DNAS for online play.

I tried with a patched version of TimeSplitters:Future Perfect and got a DNAS error...I don't think it's possible to go online with a DNAS enabled game using HD Loader yet...

That other site was supposedly developing or sponsoring an app that would bypass that dnas error. It was never released though, probably because of "lack of funds"
