Just a guess, but the network card must be registered with the ISP before you can use it, normally that's done by visiting a certain page (it being the only page you can access at the time), registering, then rebooting, after which you can use the internet as usual. You can try calling your ISP and get them to register your Playstation 2's card, or (recommended) get a second network card for your computer, install "internet connection sharing", and use a crossover cable to hook the PS2 to your second network card, it should be able to access the net properly, allowing you to have net access on both machines simultaneously.

Don't be conned into paying too much for a crossover cable, all you need is a regular Cat 5 network cable, splice it somewhere, and twist the wires back together according to http://www.perfectdrivers.com/howto/crossover.html (twist green stripe wire with orange stripe, solid green with solid orange, leave other wires intact or twist like with like).

i would suggest unplugging the power to your cable modem, let it sit for like a min then connect it to ps2, turn modem on, let it sync, then turn on ps2 and run test

Do you have to use a password to connect... cable around here doesn't... but my DSL does (PPPoe).... so I use a router.... $50 for a linksys wireless router at Wal-Mart
