Help with getting the ps2 in ... the crossover cable, and how to configure it? –
since the network is still my weakest area, I'm on the bottom of the learning curve here, and could use a bit of help, here. I don't have a line into my little world, it's not practical, so I share an access point with someone else (a really, nice neighbor) he has the modem and it's connection, so I sent him my wireless router (nice to get the dust off of it, and finally use it for something), and I connect to that via a wireless network card (well, I got that yesterday, I've been using a puny usb wireless network thingy, but it worked, until now, but it's about the same thing, as networking goes) and I also have a regular earthnet lan card, I do have another router up here with me, not wireless, but it works. The problem with using that to connect my ps2, is that both the one I have here (got it used, including this great acess security passcode, that I don't even know! allright, I can use it, but never configure it!) and my wireless share one thing in common: an insistance on being 192.168.0.1, like when everybody has to be the good guys..... but the resault is that I can go online, or network the ps2, but never both at the same time... a 44 Magnum of catch 22's.
So that's sort of out of the loop, now that leaves me with now, the USB wireless network adaptor unused, as well as a Linksys WGA11B that I've yet to use, I rewired a straight through networking cable into a crossover cable, so I have that, with which I thought maybe I can get old lock-o-router out of the picture (and maybe even out of my damn window) and use the crossover cable to connect the ps2 to my otherwise unused lan card, or possibly resurect the usb wireless and breed that with the Linksys gaming adaptor, somehow, to get this network of mine to have a threesome, since it jsut does'nt seem to be too willing to go in for that, otherwise, my console still aint down with no internet play, and it's frusterating the hell out of me.
It's hard as hell to teach even yourself something that you know absolutely nothing about, it's the handicap of the self educated, like me.
Anybody got any suggestions as to how I can make it fly? It would seem that I have enough to pull it off, in front of me if I only knew how to put it all together, and make windows do it to it, correctly.
