    Hi,

I really need some help. I am getting a DNAS -880 error when I go online(with backups and originals). In the past I was able to go online no problem, and I don't know how to fix it. I have the modchip that we don't speak of around here on a v7, and I have a third party hd which I used the official $ony tools to format. I have tested the network adapter on a different ps2 and it worked fine. I reflashed the bios with the latest beta version, and reformated the hard drive, yet still encountering the error. I have never been banned and I DIDN'T use the machine id changer or try to get online from HDloader. The first time I got this error I tried playing a new Socom II(original not backup) with my chip in sleep mode, and got a message that said that my network adapter had been setup on a different machine, which I thought was odd because I have been playing for a year with the current configuration. So I reconfigured the network adapter, and ever since, I get the 880 error. I know many people on here fix playstations so I was hoping someone could shed some light on the problem, because I am going in to withdrawal from Madden05.

I have tried to do as much research as possible on this matter, but if I have missed info on this issue I apologize for wasing anyones time.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or ideas you may have to help me.

Still not sure, but I tried to load a PS1 disc and it keeps going back to the browser, which most likely means laser trouble? The odd thing is that some ps1 discs work and some don't, also all of my dvds backup and originals work fine. I thought the laser issue was only reading DVD media not CD? I tried cleaning the laser, but still has an issue. If anyone can confirm that this is possible I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I started this thread in the online section because I was detting a dnas error, but if this belongs in a different area I apologize.

    Thanks

One of the consoles I moddd a while back was giving back to me, and has the same problem as you, even in sleep mode with originals I get that DNAS-880 error. Also the ps2 is a v4 with I believe a duo chip, and NO hd or anything, its just a ps2, modded and a network adapter.

Usually an 880(or 881) error means that it has a bad machine ID. Either it came from the factory with one, or it was changed with the machine id changer. In my case neither is true.

ESPI69: I have tried to reset the network adapter a couple of times, but it is still not working.

bronigs: how did you fix the mod to get the 880 to go away?

tothanubis: I encountered the same problem with my console a couple of days ago. I keep getting the DNAS -880 Error non-stop no matter what alterations I make. If you or anyone has solved a way to fix this issue it would be much appreciated. For the record, I never used any ps2 id changer so that didn't cause the error. Hopefully someone out there can shed some light on this.

Well, after researching a bit on changing IDs and such...I managed to get my console online again. It seems for some strange and freaky reason...my link ID was reset to all 0's yet I never even used a ID changer on my system. So I managed to make a new one and everything is back to normal.

I haven't been able to load the machine id changer, I burned the disc twice, but my ps2 won't read it, it reads all my other homebrew stuff like snes-station. I am glad that it worked out for you.

Just out of curiosity, what did you do that made the iLink ID change. Mine seemed to be when I tried to go online with my original Socom II disc for the first time, or using the $ony Hdd utility to format my hard drive. Hopefully we can narrow it down for people who experience this in the future.
