well after wasting over an hour trying to figure it out somehow , i give up. going to spill all the information here and hope someone knows what to do ^^
    the settings avaiable are :
one local are connection that is connected to the cable modem and gets it's setting from the cable company network. this is not exactly the internet connection though.
the internet connection is a vpn using L2TP that connects to the isp.
and last is the local area connection which is the second network adapter i have that is connected to the ps2 using a crossover cable.

now how do i make the ps2 connect to the internet using all that , step by step would be nice if someone knows exactly ^^

I tried to connect only thru my cablemodem before, but that didnt work. so i called my isp and they told me to get a router. and then it worked.
The told me that this had to do with some kind of mac adresses. I dont know.. but a router helped me.

This depends greatly on your machine (unix/winXP/win98/MAC) and your ISP. my ISP lets me connect any device to the internet directly with no extra costs. A lot of ISPs log your MAC address and 'marry' it to the cable modem so you can't exactly swap out cards and devices. You can purchase an extra IP address for the additional MAC address for something like $10 a month, but then you need to find a hub or only leave one device connected at a time. A router takes your current MAC address and shares it over several connections so all devices appear as just your current MAC address, but can access different sites/services at the same time. These are faster than ICS because they are specifically made to handle as many packets as you can throw at them at up to 100MB/s (400MB/s total speed for a 4 port) It also provides a hardware firewall, Internal network which allows you to share other computers resources, selective ports setup, etc.

I Think what your trying to do is setup whats called ICS, or internet connection sharing. If your using MS and its not WinXP have a blast. As you already can tell it don't work. I suggest you shell out some extra cash and find yourself a small 4 port router and hook that up. ICS will work, but is very unreliable as your computer works as the hub which makes your ping grow about 100ms, so more lag and disconnects while gaming. My Dlink has served me excellent and their 604+ is going for $30 CDN now. I couldn't get the linksys routers to work, plus they were like $60 more at the time. If you don't need wireless I suggest avoiding it unless you like setting up security. I think you can get these at radioshack/thesource, best buy, wal-mart anywhere that really sells anything to do with computers.

To save even more cash get a used one. Make sure if you buy a used one you get the admin password, or have it reset. If not you might as well buy a brick cause it will be about as useful.
