I was thinking of doing the same thing, using a laptop as a wireless basestation so i can plunk the PS2 down anywhere i can get a wireless signal.

What your going to need is:

    PS2 (duh)
Laptop with wireless network card (double duh)
A wired networkcard in the laptop
    A cross over network cable

    Step 1
Connect the PS2 to the wired network card of the laptop using the cross over cable.

    Step 2
Set up standard internet sharing on the laptop

    Step 3
Setup the Network card of the PS2 (if i'm not mistaken you can just put everything on auto).

    Step 4
    Hope it works :P

    That should do it.
Let us know if it works.

yeah when I got my PS2 online I went Wirelessly... I got a Linksys BEFW11S4 router $50 at walmart.... and a Linksys WGA Game Adapter... $70 at walmart.... I get pretty good connection even with the crappy house i' living in (lots of old metal rich plaster on these there walls).

can even surf the net and game at the same time... just can't download or host games at the same time... kills the bandwidth.
