I don't need detailed instructions as I am an IT professional so I know all about IP, DHCP, Cat5, blah..blah..blah....

I recently purchased a PSTwo premod with a crystal chip. I have been trying to get it online but I can't even get any activity at my network switch from the PS2 (no blinky activity lights). What I would like to know is whether or not the built-in network adapter is "activated" right out of the box. I don't see how it could possibly be anything other than a defective network adapter, but I just want to make sure. Can someone else please confirm for me that I should be seeing network activity at my switch as soon as I plug the network cable into the PS2 (blinky lights on the network switch).

I don't know if the Crystal Chip has anything to do with this, but I also tried disabling it and I still have problems. The message I get when I try to test my network settings is -402.

as for my NA, it only has activity when it is "called". Meaning, that the software will "turn on" the NA. I can see this because my PS2 is right beside my router. there is no activity until the game (client) tries to connect to the host (server).

But you WILL have to "disable" (sleep) your chip to pass DNAS. Even if you are using an original disc.

Thanks for the responses. Very much appreciated.

As for activity lights, I am surprised that it appears to be inactive until used....but at least now I know that the network adapter may not be defective after all.

Also, I am new to the Crystal chip. According to their website, to disable the chip I need to press reset 6 times. I've done that, but I still get error -402 when trying to test my network settings. If DNAS has already detected my modchip (because I didn't disable the first time I tried this), I am not banned forever or anything like that am I? Just trying to figure out why I can't get online with the Crystal Chip. Any pointers on how to get on line with the Crystal chip? I am not trying to even play a game at this point, just want to get setup and test my network settings and I keep getting -402.
