exactly my point. to elaborate more i would have had to talk about how to hack DNAS, and that IS agaist the rules.

But the bans DO happen, and as i said if it's one of those bans, you will just suddenly be unable to connect when trying to play ANY online DNAS game. The only way this is distinguishable from a network problem is if you switch consoles and it works. There's no announcement, and no warning.

A ban for cheating is only for that title, and is different from a console ID ban. And unless you are a repeat offender the ban will be removed with no action on your pary.

Even sites that do not have rules agaisnt DNAS hacking do have rues against sharing DNAS disc IDs. DNAs is actually a very effective protection. If you actually pirate the DNAS games, they WILL figure it out, and you WILL get banned if you keep it up.

The info is on a site I can't link to because it discusses DNAS patching.

Certain sites with connections to Sony employees have made it clear that Sony IS going around and banning public IDs. Once X number of users logs in under a public ID (x = a number larger than the number of disc IDs produced for that particular ID), users are banned.

Well, that still sound like rumors to me. Seem like everybody have their own story about DNAS and banning. And I would really like to hear about that ''site'' with connections:P

But have any of you heard peoples complaining about being banned beside what website X and website Y told you?

To answer the questions about console ID banning no you can not be banned "by console ID". But to fully answer how this works I can't discuss it on these forums.

You could possibly be banned by console ID, and why the hell everytime someone say something, they ''can't'' discuss it on this forum? As long as no copyrighted or illegal material are included, you are free to speak of whatever the hell you want.

Show me a picture of DNAS telling you "You are banned from Sony Online." on your TV screen then I'll believe you. =)

hmmmmm the banning seems kinda unfair.. lol..

for example a guy rents a game from blockbuster and gets the disk id of the game, then shares it to hundreds of people online :-p so when he returns that game and some other guy borrows it.. .. will he get banned? since it was a borrowed authentic game and not a backup. heh

I thought discussion of DNAS was prohibited and some of the work i've done doesn't violate the rules of the board if I post but it is pretty much on the edge of the rules. But I did a lot of work with DNAS to try to get banned and I was unsucessful. The only sort of Banning that Sony is impossing currently is by DISC ID. If an Moderator would chime in or email me so I can discuss with them what I want to say and see if its acceptable. Or i'll just read through the rules tonight again and see what I will be able to post.

Allenylc, that's exactly what I think about when hearing about these consoleID ban threats. Innocent people could get hit, so how could Sony ban consoles without getting into trouble at some point? Gotta love rental stores, if it wasn't for them, Sony would be going on a ban rampage. Just kidding, I personally don't abuse the DNAS system.

They could check for the DNAS ID, then determine if it's a shared id. Then if the ID is a shared id, check if the system got a chip and if yes, just ban the console ID. The other guy who will rent that game wouldn't be banned and could play online.
