for all i know, a tool like this may already exist. but i couldn't find one if it does. so i made this little tool.
what it's for: it extracts the files from a xps or sps file into a folder (launchelf-style) so that you can copy/paste saves to your memory card with launchelf.
for those that don't know, when you save (normally) a savegame file with launchelf, it stores it in a folder with all the pertinent files inside (just like on the memory card).
i don't own a cheat device, but i still wanted to download and use savegames from the net. with this you can download either xport or sharkport saves, convert them, and copy them to your memcard with launchelf and play them.
if it's useful than great, or if i just simply missed the boat on tools that already do this, then oh well.
no fancy icon viewers here, just straight forward conversion.
have fun.

thanks, nice tool.
I just used this for NCAA rosters... worked perfect thanks for the tool...
BTW I use linux and this runs without a problem in wine.
Thank you for the post!I'm using ps2 save builder for all my saves! it perfectly works. I just exctract the save folder with this tool befor copying it with Ule to my MC....
Nice work

Great job, using it saves some time compared to ps2 save builder. Have you considered implementing grabbing files attributes and writing them to PS2_MC_Backup_Attributes.BUP.bin file that uLauchelf could write files to mc losslessly? Since some game brake when attributes are lost (for example GTA series).
I'm having some problems, I can't seem to load the save file I copied. I see it on the memory card but the game won't load it.
thank you very much!! this tool is awesome
I don't know if you've heard, but uLaunchElf now has support for the .psu-format! (bugfixed and working properly from v3.94 and up). ffgriever has coded a XPS <-> PSU converter which makes it very easy (easier than the above mentioned method of converting, I'd think) to download saves and make them ready to go, for people not owning or perhaps even for people who already do own some sort of cheatingdevice.
1. download save
1½. convert save to xps using ps2 save builder
2. convert xps>psu using the app above
3. in ule3.94+:
~a. copy the psu.
~b. "psuPaste" psu-file to memorycard.
