pSX v1.13 saves to .psu?
pSX v1.13 saves to .psu? –
So, waiting for ffgriever's PSXPS2e (I don't know the oficial name), I am playing my PlayStation games on pSX v1.13.
Now, it seems that this emulator has 2 kind of save tipes. One is quick saves, wich is in .psv format and with quick save you can save whenever you want in the game. The other tipe emulates the MemoryCard. When you go to File>Configuration>Memory cards there are two slots, 1 and 2, and you can name your MemoryCards to what name you want, but the wierd thing is that this MemoryCard emulator doesnt have a file extension when I go to the path where is, at least it doest apear on my PC, it only says that is a file. Now that I gave every detail I can think of, my question is, can I convert this saves to .psu to use them later on my PS2, with PS1 MemoryCard? I never worked with PS1 saves, only with PS2 ones. Thanks.
The real PS1 memory cards do not have a proper filesystem like the PS2 memory cards have, with freely variable file sizes etc. Instead it has a specialized storage system where everything is stored in multiples of 8KB, with a maximum of 15 8KB files. (The 16th 8KB block of each card is used as a kind of directory.)

For a PS1 gamesave on a PS1 memory card none of those things exist, so using ".psu" format for such gamesaves is neither possible nor needful. PS1 gamesaves can be copied to and from an MC just by copying the 8KB block files as they are. No special processing is needed for it. So in uLE you handle such files by normal Copy+Paste operations.
The only problem in your case is to insert/extract the raw PS1 save files in the memory card files of the emulator for exchange with gamesaves used on a real PS1 MC. But for that various utilities exist.
As for the memory card file type used by pSX, the ones I've seen are normal ".mcr" files as also used by ePSXe.
(Possibly your PC OS suppresses display of extensions, like WinXP does with default configuration.)
Btw: I don't understand why you would want to use a crap emulator like pSX, which is not even able to read ".iso" files, or to handle CD subchannels (as in cloneCD game images). Forget playing FF8, FF9, Vagrant Story, etc since they all require subchannels. (unless you can find patched versions)

Thanks, great information. So now I have to find a utility that will extract my saves from that .mcr to raw format.
If you have a link in handy to such utility, I would be greatfull if you would post it.
I'm using pSX because it was very easy to configure (I haven't managed to make pcsx2 to work even now that I know alot more than I did back last summer when I first tryed it.) and I thought it would be for just a couple of months, so I didn't really care what I was using, as long as it worked.
This one is the best out there:
PSX memtool has some nice features though, so I use them both depending on what to do.
To insert the backupped saves from ule, first you have to convert them to .mcs with psx raw converter, then create a new mc on PSXGE and open the backuped saves as "single savegame files".
I think psx raw converter is available on this forums, if not refer to http://www.ps2savetools.com/
Thanks alot man.
Well i am having some serious trouble with this PSx1.13 memory card save.
No matter what i do, it still can't read the memory card. I created a "Card" folder but when ever i wanted to save game(during gameplay), it say "An error occur while accessing Memory card data". There is no way i can fix this.
I have afew GME format save file but it just would'nt read it. Why?
Different emulators may use incompatible gamesave file formats, and then you will need to convert them in order to use them with your emulator.

you need to add .MCD to the end of whatever you named your cards
then go into your option for the controllers and choose the standard control setting
go into the dash memory card setting screen and then exit it start it up and its good to go
it must have .MCD on the end of the card name you provided and the normal control option is the only way to get the arrow for selectiob on the dash screen.
