I have just a tiny question: I'm running slowly out of space on my 16MB MC and now discovered, that I can transfer my save states with uLaunch. There are two ways of doing so, one using normal copy and copying the whole folder on my USB stick or using psuSave on my USB stick. Which one is better? And is someone willing to code something like the PS2 browser showing at least the name of the save state of a MC and then copying/moving it to USB instead of copying/moving between two MCs? :)
psuPaste is definitely better, since it will restore a gamesave to exactly the same state as it had when the PSU backup was made. This includes special flags that the user has no direct control over, as well as the timestamps of all files in the gamesave as well as the containing gamesave folder. Everything is restored to the state it had when making the backup.Quote:

As you seem unfamiliar with the psuPaste command, I had better explain some of the basics:
The psuPaste command is used both to backup a gamesave folder to a PSU file and to restore such a gamesave folder from an existing PSU file. Which operation you get depends on the source and destination devices, as follows:
If you used the 'Copy' command on MC, and then use psuPaste on a non-MC device, then the operation will be to backup selected gamesave folders from MC to PSU files on the non-MC device.
But if you used the 'Copy' command on a non-MC device, and then use psuPaste on MC, then the operation will be to restore gamesave folders on MC from the selected PSU files. (If you selected other files/folders those are just copied as-is.)
And if you have MC devices at both ends, or non-MC devices at both ends, then the psuPaste command will not be available (greyed out).
Special directives in the CNF file controls how the PSU filenames are constructed, and allow for inclusion of game titles and/or a timestamp from the gamesave in addition to the original folder names. You can read more about that in the commented CNF that comes with each uLE release package.
uLE already supports display of game titles instead of folder names. If you press L1 when inside the FileBrowser, that will open a small popup where you can select between three different display modes and four different sorting modes.Quote:

Both display mode and sorting mode can be set to use game title instead of the folder name (default setting), and folders that lack a valid "icon.sys" file (should contain game title) will be displayed and sorted as if the folder's name was also its game title. You can read more about this in the file "uLE FileBrowser update.txt" which also comes with each uLE release package.

Thanks quite a lot, the PSU command I got by just trial and error but the viewing thing in uLaunch I totally missed. uLaunch is such a GREAT tool, thank you btw for improving it!
