problems with saves from God Of war and GTA:SA downloaded from the net –

hello all, this is one of my first posts and i saw a tutorial on how to download save games from the internet and i downloaded 3 save games, one of God f war with everything unlocked, one of gta san andreas and one for Resident evil 4, all US saves for my US games, the process of copying to the memcard is always sucessful, as i can see the icons and the size of the saves like the original ones, but only the Resident evil 4 save worked. God of war says that there is no save game and Gta says on the load screen when you press start, that the save is a corrupt one; so i tried downloading other versions of the saves at gamefaqs.com, so i don't know what's the reason of this, i tried everything that i could, so, any suggestions??????
for further knowing of what i've done, see this link:

What are you using to transfer the saves?
GTA saves (and possibly God of War saves by the sound of it) require a commercial save transfering device else they do not work.

Hi kids, i been just starting to explore the gamesave thingie.
I downloaded a 100% done CPB(codebreaker) gamesave of GTA:SA.
now they sed it dint work, but mine does
i folowed the TUTORIAL where u convert an AR MAX or codebreaker savegame u have downloaded from the net. (this link is the EU version!)
copied converted files to USB stick.(data travaler2 512 MB)
then I used ulaunchelf 3.57 to copy the files to my orignal MC.
now here is the trick i think, if u delete your orignal saves, and then copy your new files, it dont work.
but i just started the game, played for 5 mins, saved the game where it was possible to do for the first time.(after u drove the bike and talked to his fat friend).
then i ' added' my converted files into my orignal gamesave folder.
and presto.
I dint bother to check out more posts about this to see if this was already discovered, becuase there are so many

uLanucheElf now natively supports transferring problem saves like GTA: SA, if you're not using the latest version check it out

In fact the method you used is still both valid and useful, especially the basic idea of first making a new valid save in the game, and then replacing individual files within that save folder. It's not really a new discovery, but it's a very useful method as it ensures that all attributes of that folder are what the game wants them to be. And this method remains useful regardless of the improved backup methods of uLaunchELF, because what you did has nothing to do with backups.
The mcPaste function of uLaunchELF can only ensure correct attributes when either backing up normal valid saves from MC to some other medium, or when restoring backups made that way to MC again. However, it can't correctly restore backups to MC that weren't made by mcPaste to begin with. And this means that saves downloaded from internet sites and unpacked by PS2SaveBuilder can't be restored to MC with original attributes by mcPaste. It will still make an attempt to use normal MC attributes (same as normal Paste), but these can differ from what the game really uses.
For such cases it is still better to work with a new save folder created by the game itself, and only copy into it those files you absolutely need to change. This way you keep as much as possible of the attributes that the game used, and so improve the chance that the game will accept this save as valid.
Best regards: dlanor

I thought the exact same thing. I would have gone file by file to test what files the game wants/needs in order to function properly. But it worked at the second try already, I will keep this in mind
