Here is my reccomendation on using nport in it's current 0.1 incarnation. Perhaps this text might be revised from time to time.

#1: If you're going to release a save, close your PC-side communication program, rename your 'saves' directory to something else (I like 'saves.old') and create a new directory called 'saves'

#2: Check to see if your save works. No, seriously.

#3: Start up nPort. The PC-side window of nPort should be empty.

#4: Now transfer your save/saves (If you are releasing more than one save per archive, and they 'need' eachother -- For instance, SniperKilla releases a GTA3 save with a Diablo enabled. SniperKilla also would include a GT3 Settings file containing the default settings for the Car. Both files would be transferred to the PC and archived together.)

#5: Now, make a readme.txt or *.nfo/*.diz and give some information about your save.

Please list at least the following:

    Title of Game
    Video mode of Game (PAL/NTSC)
    Region Code of Game
Name & Size in KB of each seperate memory card file in the archive (Optional, Game save title in braces)

So, here would be a sample.
    __________________________________________________ ________________

    Grand Turismo 3: A-Spec
    NTSC / USA
    Files:
    BASCUS-97102GAMEDATA.npo (91KB) [GT3 GAME DATA]

    Notes:
This save file contains two cars, A Diablo which has been removed from the us version, and a AR hacked copy with 2200HP.

    released by SniperKilla
    __________________________________________________ ________________

#6: Compress the .npo files (DO NOT FORGET TO INCLUDE THE FILE NAMED 'index' IN THE SAVES DIRECTORY! THE SAVE WILL NOT WORK IF YOU LEAVE THIS FILE OUT.)

#7: You should end up with a .RAR / .ZIP / .ETC file containing something simelar to the following:

    <Filename>.npo
    readme.txt
    index

#8: Post the file here, on the forum. If possible, name your release something close to the following:

    REL: Grand Turismo 3: A-Spec (NTSC/USA) - 2 Unlocked Diablos

If you need to edit your post, attached files can be reuploaded. If you do this, please leave a note in the release thread, like <edit> 3-5-2003 I fixed an error, .rar updated. </edit>

If you are REQUESTING a game save, or a paticular type of game save, please prefix your post with "REQ: <game name> (<video>/<region>) - need Level 25+ save etc etc etc"

Thank you all for reading. Mods, if this is totally uncalled for, just delete the post or edit it. Or make your own sticky with some rules simelar to these -- it really helps cut down the clutter.
