Backing up PS1 savegames?

Other than a DexDrive, which I can't seem to get hold of, is there any other way to do this?

Have you tried LaunchELF ?

It will allow you to copy PS1 gamesaves directly from a PS1 MC to any other PS2 media (USB, HDD, other MC), or vice versa. It has worked fine for all the games I've tried it with. But some games can be devious, so test it before you rely on this method.

Just don't make the mistake of trying to use the official PS2 browser to look at PS1 saves that you've copied to a PS2 MC this way, because it will regard such copies as corrupt (even though they are not). Also, if you have used the official PS2 browser to copy PS1 saves to a PS2 MC, then avoid using the current version of LaunchELF (v3.41t) to manipulate those saves, as it doesn't support the special attribute flags needed for that kind of save.

after doing the transferring with launchelf you can do the conversion with raw2mcs-conv i have already posted it in this forum
