    Hi all,

First - BIG thanks to the ICE team, I've been following their work since the start, and without it I wouldn't have had so much fun homebrewing chips for my PS2 - I get more fun out of modding than playing

Now, I have my silver PS2 V9 here with ICE 112a - Works just fine, and I can run the exploit either by Pressing reset long + short tap with a PSX disk or by just holding reset down long - Very impressive!

I followed the tut posted elsewhere on this site and have PS2 keylauncher installed on my card along with execftp and HDLR_SVR - They work fine. So I thought 'Lets try HDloader'...But unless I boot using a PSX disk the HDloader elf just gets stuck on its splash screen. Now I have searched around and people say that its not possible to boot HDL without a disk, but people also say that a certain 'other' chip can do this.

So Im just asking if ICE will boot HDL without a PSX disk? If it should, what could I be doing wrong?

Many thanks, and keep up the good work guys!

HDL has a patch program that stops the V9&10 from doing the disk seek and then you no longer need a disk. Look for HDL_AIO or something similar and patch up an uncompressed hdloader elf for use on the V9, this solved my problems with the V9 and hdloader (just note that I havent used an icerev chip yet so...)

There are also a few places to find an already patched version that has been tested... you know "the usual places" rofl

    Cheers for the reply

I guessed as much, so i got all the tools and stuff and had a fiddle, but no matter what I do, the same thing happens. Im 100% sure its patching (I can change the menu size etc.)

I will just have to keep on fiddling

i do have the same problem, but i tried with v8 and below hdloader is working with out disk. my guess is hdloader is freezing on cdvd routne there other chips are dumping info on cdvd controller like there is a cd. i really don't know whom to ask about this
