First of all many thanks to the ICE team. Thank you vdavide, Lacyg and RCE for all your hard work and lost nights and for the commitment to the scene.
I can't put my hands on a 74HC73 or a 74HCT73 or any other J-K flip-flop capable of running at over 50MHZ speed in SMD package.
And I really want it to be SMD.
So I was very curious to find out why there is a need for a flip-flop and I have disassembled your code. I presume that the low going pulses on the IO_CDDVD_OE signal are too short (shorter than 80 ns) and a simple loop in the MCU program may have missed it.
But there is one more possibility: did you try to use the RTCC module? It can be configured to increment on the falling edge of the IO_CDDVD_OE signal. You clear the RTCC register and then if you find a value greater than zero, it means there was a low pulse on the RTCC pin. I didn't find more info in the datasheet (didn't have much time to search), but I am sure this procedure can detect pulses as short as 20 ns.
If you can test this, please tell me and I can easily modify the code to accomodate this behaviour.

and yes all other ways with sx sync tested => not possible without problems (out of sync) ...
