ps2 HDD crk

i was wondering how to get the ps2 network adaptor to use 3rd party HDD's and think it was a sony drive and i asked some guy but he said it was still internal and couldent tell me he said i had to do this:

take us HDTOOL 1.0 (not 1.1)
unpack the ELF
patch it (with an elf from an xbox hard drive)
break the CRC ckeck
repack it
and your all set

he wouldent give me any details, can someone look into this.

the guy said the elf was encrypted with MAGICGATE protection that has to be broken for it to work

there are NO .elfs' on any XBOX hdd, unless some jackass out them there

im just telling u people exactly what i heard, whether or not its true is another story if someone cracked it it would be awesome cuz i dont wanna wait for a usa PS2 HDD
