I'm trying to decide which programmer to buy to programm Scenix Chips and what software to use. What formats are being released and what assembler to use to compile the ice0.81 code into a format useable in such a programmer.
I have a Emp-11 from Needhams Electronics in which i use to program and flash Xbox bioses.
I have a PicStart Programmer from Microchip which i've been using for all the different Pics.
I read as a suggestion to pick up this programmer ->
and to use the PicALL program to program chips.
I believe the program only accepts hex. Just Curious what assembler can assemble the code from ICE and Blackats code to bin or sx.... (a bit confused)
Can someone also suggest a place to purchase SX28ac chips. I'll start testing the code also.
One more thing, the V5,6,7,8 uses 54 resonator that needs to be purchased?
Thank you all for any help you can supply.
(Sorry about posting this in probably the wrong place earlier)
check out the magic 3 code thread (the 2 big sticky threads).
all tools for compiling the source to hex and an explanation of use are in this threads. read them..... they are long, but everthing is in them.
Thank you Frankieboy for the swift reply i'm in debt of you and the rest of this forum.
you need the sxtools.zip , the sxfree.zip. download in the thread.
1) edit define.inc and uncomment your ps2 modell
2) use make command in the dos box of windows
3) make will compile the source to your hex
4) finished, thats all. very easy.
edit the ???.sxfile. in the sx file are a lot of coments and the soldering diagram witht the right pin numbers of the sx 28.
Excellent, it suddenly all makes sense now. I'm a CS major and still haven't even tried the make command to compile source code efficiently.... (i know i'm patethic hahaha)
Basically i've been working on coding for PIC type chips back in the good ole Old Crow days. Today i decided to jump on the bandwagon since so many people seem interested in this project and also that the new version of the PS2 is out it almost feels like a taunt to see how fast people can break it down again.
This is the first time i'll be using the SX28ac chip so I didn't want to purchase the wrong things and risk losing money in which i don't have as much as i would like to have (lol).
Thank you again Frankieboy. Oh any idea where they carry these the dip flashroms? www.digikey.com doesn't seem to stock them at all....
nevermind i found it. thanx though
it was in the sticky as frankieboy stated.
www.parallax.com sells the sx 28 and the murata 50.00 mhz resonator.
i live in germany. parallax sent the parts in 2 days from usa to germany. everthing is best.
you can use sx key or sx blitz to programm the chips. debugging is also possible with that.
software tools and documentation can be downloaded at www.ubicom.com thex have good support.
more software is offered by www.parallax.com
there are also some very good website links in parallax page to applications of sx 28.
the language is 99% similiar to a pic microchip, 16???? i thought.
Thanx again, i'll find out soon enough if the language is similar. I'll read up on it very soon.
Kagetsu - you can thank me too for splitting your post out of the original thread and putting it into this brain pool!
