I use murata 50 mhz resonator. 15 k resistor on reset line . 1uf cap between +5v and GND and 1uf cap between Z and GND

I have used Murata resonator in parallel with a 15K resistor, a 1uF cap between Vcc and GND and a 100nF cap between Z and GND. Now I use a 5V, 50 MHz SMD oscillator and of course the two capacitors. I had no stability problems with these two setups.

The only problems have appeared when I used the internal 54MHz clock and the transistor. This combination wasn't too stable due to the variation of the hfe factor of the transistor with temperature (and thus having a fill factor different from 50% at the clock input). I had two consoles fail with burned lens, both having chips with this type of oscillator. I don't blame it entierly on the chips, because those consoles were always playing bad quality CD's.
