Magic 3.x Switch.... –
Can someone tell me if anyone tried this yet w/ sucess --
instead of just cuttin the power of the MCLR pin (like most of your diagrams show), why cant you just cut off the power to the magic chip altogether to 'really' turn the chip off.
On switch -- turns chip on (gives 5v from board to chip)
Off switch -- turns chip off (Grounds from board to chip)
I have a switch w/ 9 poles
i can take the 5v wire from the chip, solder it on the switch. the switch will have another wire goin from it , to the motherboard 5v pin.
like this --
(5v wire from chip) ------o x o-----(to the 5v pin on the board) ON POSITION
nothin in the center . . . .x x x
(ground i gues) ----------o x o-----(ground it somewhere) OFF POSITION
^^ dont think u need to take the ground wire from the chip, but im a electronic noob
