Magic 3 Switch –
I wanna Make a Switch for my Magic 3 similar to the One for Xbox, Can anyone help me with my project?
Just cut the power wire !
has this been done befor? is there some sort of diagram i can look at?
just run the +5 volt wire to the sx chip/msagic3 through a switch, on= magic on, off = magic off (no +5v)
so after the magic boots a game it no longer needs to be on, if i eject during a game can i close the tray and continue to play with no promblem
no since you opened the tray the ps2 will recheck for the verification
Does Messiah 2 allow that?
why would u wanna eject during a game???
Gameshar, and any thing that makes you switch Cds
Put MCLR to GND
Put MCLR to GND –
It is not a good idea to cut off the +5V supply from the Magic3 chip while it is connected because it has protection diodes from each pin to Vcc. So the potential on any pin can't be greater than Vcc+0.7V. If you cut Vcc off, the Magic3 will behave like some sort of short-circuit (well, the data pins will feed current to the Vcc pin).
But you CAN disable the Magic3 chip without interfering with the data lines. You can keep it in RESET. This is done by keeping the MCLR pin (pin 28) to ground rather than Vcc. This way all the pins will be in Hi-Impedance mode. To do this, you have two possibilities:
