Magic 3 Instability - I think this
Magic 3 Instability - I think this –
12-29-2002,06:25 PM
Hello from Italy! I have a consideration on the magic3 homebrew; anyone have tried to use an oscillator on 50mhz frequency and not the risonator? It is possible that the instability of magic3 homebrew (scenix + resonator) is the frequency instable of the risonator? I know that the temperature of the scenix in working is very high, and the near risonator can change the frequency.....
When i start to mod the first psx (1002, 5502 models), for making a color correction for ntsc games on pal machines in the composite output, I have used an oscillator with a frequency of 4.433 mhz. These oscillators, are in DIL package, and have 4 pin; ground, vcc, a pin for switch on/off the frequency generation and a pin with the frequency output (and this frequency is very precise, the oscillator can compensate at temperature variations.....). I'm searching these oscillators on a frequency of 50 mhz.
What do you think of instability of magic3? Do you think that the program into sx28 have some timing problems, or the wire used from sx28 to ps2 add some delay lines, or the frequency of resonator is not stable? another possibility is that the clock of the sx28 is not aligned with ps2 clock. Messiah1, the best modify in the world (i think), take the clock from the ps2 board, and don't have a external clock generator (as resonator, crystal or oscillator).
P.S. after 3 nights without sleep, I am finally able to clean ALL the lens of the optical pickup of 30004 models (normally these optical pickups after 1 year start to make tickly noise first on dvd9 films, after on dvd games, after on cd games and after they don't read nothing!) I'm preparing a word file with instructions step to step.
Thank you for now to all and my best regards!
Germano.
Excuse me for terrible english !!!!!
Anyone thing that is possible to convert the magic3 code from scenix to a pic? 16fxx family??? They are more findable!!!!!!
PS all the magic 3 codes on pal machines (I've tried on v3/v4/v7) have problems on audio cd! do you know it?

Ok , after extensive modification of the software ( thanks to RCE for his RCE0785 ) , i think
there is a timing problem , specially with AR2 inserted and cd door
operation.
I think problem is not on the oscillator not in temperature.
Pic family is too slow to patch bios signal.
