first i would like to say sorry if this post is in the wrong area, but i could not see any where else that it may apply to..

i have a magic 3.0 chip in my version 7 ps2 and as other people has seen, i am experiencing the freeze screens during game play and or sometimes loading. know i have read this is a problem with the magic 3.0 chips and this problem has been fixed in the 3.1 version, but i am wondering.. is it possible to flash the chip some how with the 3.1 version instead of pulling out the good old dremel and putting a on off switch on the chip.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone got an answer to this? I got the same chip (got my ps2 for free and it came w/ it) and I am experiencing the same periodic freezing in games...anyone know how I could fix it?

    What are my options?

Yes it is possible to reprogram it, but you will need a programmer to do it.
I would program it with ndv17 code instead but if you do so you need to remove some wires.
