Well, my fluffy stopped working out of no where, so I decided to build a dlscenix
http://www.excamera.com/articles/10/dlscenix.html but still no dice. From that exact schematic, I also tried connecting Vss and Vdd to the pic16f84a-20, could it prossibly be faulty and is it possible to check that?

if you have a scope you can check the rb5,6,7 outputs.

my fluppy got screwed as well
i guess from a high input of voltage somehow....
led blowed , 5v regulator and a transistor ..... and ofcource.... :P the pic16f84 got bad....
check if you got 2 blinks , if yes check if you got voltage output correctly....
try reprogram it see if you can write read to it.
as i said after all mine got bad
    good luck
