I was wondering if the chips on the magic 3's(baught) are flashable or just OTW. ie, if the 3.1 code gets released, can i upgrade them?

The magic 3.1, is already out.
And you can buy modchip with it already.
A few sites have it, but is avaiable.

    Regarding the re-flashability

    How can i do that?

you can reflash it , but u need a SX programmer , and then you also need to put a resistor on anothert point , because the points have swapped to accomodate sleep

some programmers you can program with the resonator and resistor in curcuit

ID take them off program the chips with the 4 points +5v osc1 osc2 and GND

then put the resonator and resistor back on.

    depending on which code :

for blackcat code you need to swap points A and Z.

for RCE ICe code you need to swap points A and Z and Reset and W and you would also then take off resitor from reset line and put it on point W

best alternative for ypu guys is to program a 12c508 and wire it with your current magic3.

This 12c508 addon fixes the dvd hang problem by putting the chip to sleep
