100nf cap = no BIOS (V7, ICE, NTSC)

CONSOLE = V7
SYSTEM = NTSC

DEFINEC.INC = PS2 V1-8, KILL_LOGO AND POWER_DOWN

USING 50MHZ 3-PIN RESONATOR

Trying to put a Magic ICE DIP on a V7 PS2 NTSC...

Everything is fine, triple and quadruple checked my connections, A and Z are swapped and W = Messiah W...

A goes by RST and Z is on the resistor, W is beside R... it all checks out.

Every time I connect the 100nf capacitor to the board the PS2 won't boot. What could be going wrong? This even happens when the mod chip isn't in the socket (but the mod board still connected)

PS2 works fine if I remove the capacitor, but won't boot any backups. With it on, nothing, no bios.

How did you end up with w beside r?
what did you mean with A goes by rst?

This ( http://www.videogamecompany.com/magic3v7.jpg ~213KB ) shows where pin R is, and this ( http://www.neoasic.com/jpg/dia-me2v7-logo.jpg ~ 175KB ) shows that W (W = messiah) is supposed to go right near R

I said A goes by RST (reset) because in the magic3v7.jpg it shows Z beside Reset, and since we're supposed to swap A and Z then it means A is actually the one beside reset.

Yeah I did put the resistor between Reset and pin 3 on the SX dip.

Ok i thought you ment connections on the chip:D
Resistor should go from rst point on mainbord to pin 9 on the chip.

Oh yeah, I meant pin 9.. I dunno why I said 3.

I still can't get it working though. Well my Magic 3.1 is coming in the mail soon at least...

Maybe one of the parts is busted on my Magic ICE right now but I don't really care, I've been soldering and trying shit for about 5 days now (no joke) and I'm just sick of trying, heh. I even tried flashing Magic 3.1 (realm31.zip) and wiring that in with no luck (using the diagram magic3_homebrew_dip.jpg ).

I've actually lost sleep over this too. It's just not worth it. $30 is definitely worth peace of mind.

mmm ... have u tried to change SX chip and resonator ... not the first sx failed ( i have 2 not working ) :(

Hmm well it still works in the Fluffy... I guess I could try replacing parts

SOME CHIP CAN BE PROGRAMMED BUT DOESN'T WORK ...
