Xport and a USB network cable...

I had an AR2v2, and the Xport pc software, so went out to grab what I thought would be a compatible cable. I got a Gembird USB2.0 network link cable (basically, just thought that the buffer box in the middle would be the same as the Xport cable that a friend had), and anyway, it didn't work in the normal configuration.

Bearing in mind that this cable is intended to network PCs, is there any way i'll be able to use it to link to the PS2? (I was thinking maybe by emulating a USB zip drive, or something related to that USB modem that was produced for Tony Hawk 3 or 4)
