total noob..free mcboot question
total noob..free mcboot question –
01-29-2009,02:23 AM
so noob here..just joined a minutes ago..i'd like to ask you guys
with this..
*Free McBoot MUST be installed to a Memory Card and can not be copied off another. A copy will only work on the MC it was installed on.
Cross Region installations will not work! This means installing with a console from one region will not work on another console from a different region.*
so i'd like to ask if i can install straight the free mcboot to my unmodded psp
phat..i'm using a flash drive to save all the files..please help guys..

i think i might know what your asking but it would require a way to boot homebrew already since the psp needs something to recognize it and run fmcb.elf the best option would be codebreaker or armax or even swap magic would work...unless you've some other way to use homebrew.

If your asking can fmcb be install ONTO a psp, no i dont see how it could.
Now if you mean USE the PSP to install fmcb with your PS2, yes, you put the PSP into USB mode, copy the fmcb files and plug it in the PS2.
or is " psp " just a typo ?

dont forget that he needs a way to run the .elf in the first place so simply plugging in his psp wont do it.

As dangwoot said, simply copying the files to a USB device wont work, you need a way to boot uLaunchELF. Once you have uLaucnhELF running, yes its all you need to boot the installer.
But there are a number of ways to boot the FMCB installer, perhaps reading thru the tutorials will give you an idea on how you can do that. uLaunchELF is the best for launching homebrew, but if you dont have a way to boot that, then other methods may be better for you.

Just read the tutorials for Booting the Installer.

If you followed the CD tutorial precisely, it is probably the media used, so try another brand of CD.

You should use the latest version of any program when selecting it from a list of similar versions of the same program, why would you want to use both versions? If your a noobie and dont know what to do, wouldnt using the "Noobie Package" make sense?
I included instructions in the Noobie Package, but in case you need more info, heres the Noobie Guide i made:
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials...r_dummies.html
Everything to get you started with Free McBoot 1.8 is included and pre-set to install as it is. You only need to place the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF and INSTALL folder on your USB device or CD compilation according to the CD Install tutorial.
Then you boot the installer (FREE_MCBOOT.ELF) with your chosen boot method. Restart the console after the install and all the recommended apps should work.
Read the Noobie Guide if you dont know what apps are included, i just dont feel like typing a mini guide here....thats why i made the noobie guide in the first place.
Umm....."Mcbooty"?? you got booty on the brain, ya might want to have a clear head while doing this stuff...
