I have a memory card that contains the exploit (keylauncher, hdl etc.)
I want the corrupted data that shows up in Browser to:
    a. not show up
    b. show an icon instead

    Is this possible?

This was were I got stuck I tried putting a HDLoader icon(+files) in the same folder as HDLoader tho unfortunetly that is BEDATA-SYSTEM and it replaces my memory card's icon (first icon in browser) also tried to create a subdirectory (with hdloader + icon files) and both methods didnt replace the corrupted data icon.

you just have to put a proper icon file and icon.sys in the folder that is showing up as corrupted. I can't remember the names of the software off the top of my head, but if you just copy the icon file and the icon.sys (perhaps using ps2menu) from one folder on the MC, say for NFS:U, to the folder showing up as corrupted. Then you have a folder that shows up in the browser as another NFS:U save--it isn't perfect, but it works.

I've made custom icons for all the things I have on my MC that normally show up as corrupted data. That way I can move them back and forth between the MC and my save folder on the HDD without issue.

    V9 NTSC US Console
    DMS3 V9 v2.3
    Maxtor 120gb 7200 RPM HDD
Custom HDL + Upgraded browser (for HDD support)

I am not entirely sure what folder is showing up as corrupted (I am thinking exploit + HDLoader), but as I said above even if I use an Icon and Icon.sys and put it in either HDloader/exploit folder. It still shows the corrupted data icon.

I can't remember the names of the software off the top of my head, but if you just copy the icon file and the icon.sys
PS2 Save builder and I can access the Memory card with EXECFTPS fine

The folders that isn't a proper game saves are shown up as corrupted, such as the FAPLINK directory, and the SYS-CONF(can't remember exact name). Put icon file + icon.sys file as suggested by Kugeln in those directories.

Thanks very much. Turns out that SYS-CONF was the corrupted data after deleting no entries exist.

PS2Menu, and PS2Menu-K both keep a configuration file inside of SYS-CONF (and maybe ExecFTPS as well). So, you might want to keep the directory around.

They are usually what show up as "corrupted data." Every time you restart PS2Menu, it re-creates the config file for the program if it does not exist. IIRC the DMS3 configuration settings do this as well, the DMS Explorer app, and maybe PS2Reality and MCLoader too. Any app that creates a folder on the MC without an icon and a proper icon.sys appears as "corrupted data" to the PS2.

You can make any folder that shows up as corrupted data appear as a proper save in the browser by putting an icon file and an icon.sys pointing to that icon file. If you do this, and say, create an icon.sys for the "PS2Menu Configuration" then that is what it will show up as in the browser.

Since I use custom icons for everything not furnished with one, I use PS2Savebuilder to extract the icon.sys from a good save. After that I make the icon in photoshop, export it as a BMP, then use BMP2ICON to convert it into a compatible ps2 icon file.

from there, I use nPort to transfer the save from the PS2, use PS2Savebuilder to inject the icon and the icon.sys, then customize the icon.sys to my liking, depending on what is in the folder. From there I just delete the save from the mc (using nPort) and then transfer the new save (complete with icon and icon.sys) back to the ps2 and next time it boots to the browser, there is a new save on the MC with my custom icon, colors, and title--and no more "Corrupted Data" cubes.
