newbie needs assistance with mem card

hey, ive been outa the ps2 scene for a while, but now that gt4 is cracked, ive got a q for ya guys, i have a messiah 2 chip, but i was wonderin is there a way to get hdloader to load from the mem card? cause my laser is dying and it hates reading that disc each time i start up. Thanks, ive been lookin around but dont see any tuts regarding this q.

Yes, you need the memory card exploit, search these forums... there are ALOT of tut's for that.

meaning i can direct boot from the memcard?
i have found posts about using a ps1 disc, and then loading a mem card exploit.
I allready have an hdloader disc, and all works well and great, but i would much rather not have any discs involved at all, because sometimes it takes like 2-3 tries for my machine to read the disc.

Ohh I see what your saying. Ok, well first of all I would suggest fixing you laser (it's really not that hard).

Anywho, yes, unless you have some particular mod chips you must use a ps1 disc. The advantage to this is... you ps2 only has to read the ps1 disc for a second to trigger the BOOT.ELF on the memcard.... after that it doesnt read anything.... with the hdloader disc the ps2 must read everything from the disc.

What version ps2 do you have? What I did was take it apart, take off the disc cover, and I simply cleaned the lense with a qtip and iso alcohol, works great now.

yeah, i did that too, it helped, but i dunno, just would be better if no discs were involved. ohh well, ill look into the exploit because it would be easier for the thing to read a ps1 disc rather than a cd r of hdloader.
